At the ceremony, 60 entrepreneurs were honored and awarded the title of "Outstanding Vietnamese Entrepreneur" in 2022.

Rising above 200 excellent entrepreneurs reviewed and assessed for the award this year, Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh - Chairman of Board of Directors, Executive President of CMC Corporation was honored in the top 10 most outstanding Vietnamese entrepreneurs, thanks to his devotion and achievements together with CMC, which have made practical contributions to the cause of building and developing the country's economy and society.

Giving his opening speech, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on behalf of the Communist Party and the State sent his best wishes to Vietnamese entrepreneurs and affirmed that: "In difficult times, the Party and the State always have the people, including entrepreneurs, by their side." Each and every entrepreneur is an example and a good story about entrepreneurship, bravery, wisdom and social responsibility. The Prime Minister called for entrepreneurs to continue to cultivate, study and develop in order to accompany the Government in the construction and development of the country.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh was born on November 3, 1963 in Nam Dinh, and is currently living and working in Hanoi. He graduated from Hanoi University of Science and Technology in 1987 with a bachelor's degree in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, and was recruited to work at National Institute of Technology Research. In 1993, with the enactment of Law on Private Enterprises, he, together with his good friend and co-worker, Mr. Ha The Minh (late President of CMC Corporation), decided to established HT&NT Co., Ltd., the predecessor of 

CMC Corporation. Throughout his career, Mr. Chinh has had outstanding achievements, such as: title of Red Star Entrepreneur, TOP 10 Outstanding Entrepreneurs, Certificate of Merit granted by Minister of Information and Communications, etc. After experiencing many different positions, Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh is currently holding the position of Chairman of Board of Directors and Executive President of CMC Corporation (CMC Corp).

Following his lead, CMC Corporation has made rapid development and is playing a prominent role in contributing to the country's economy and leading the national digital transformation, including digital government, digital economy and digital society. In the 2017-2021 period, CMC always maintained positive annual growth rate and made contribution to the State budget. In fiscal year 2021 alone, CMC's consolidated revenue is VND 6,909 bn., up 22%; Earning before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) is over VND 700 bn., increased by 20%; and Profit before tax is VND 432 bn., up 29% and meeting 113% of the plan.

Currently, CMC Corporation is operating in 4 main fields, namely: Digital Infrastructure, Technology & Solution, International Business and Research & Education. CMC is present in more than 30 countries around the world and directly creating jobs for more than 5,000 employees.

In 2022, the Corporation has completed two large-scale projects that have significant contribution to the digital infrastructure and human resources of the country, i.e. establishing CMC Tan Thuan Data Center - the most modern and secure data center in Vietnam, and CMC University - the first multidisciplinary digital university in Vietnam.

With the above contributions, CMC has been honored with one third-class Labor Medal, two second-class Labor Metal, as well as many prestigious domestic and foreign titles, certificates and awards.

The "Top 10 outstanding Vietnamese Entrepreneurs 2022" award is the recognition of the Government for the contributions and achievements of President Nguyen Trung Chinh as well as CMC Corporation in the cause of building and developing the country in the last 30 years.

"I am very moved and proud. I would like to share this with over 5,000 officers and employees of CMC. Without them, I could not succeed. CMC as a team has been in this together for 30 years. I thank the country for creating opportunities for CMC to develop, and thank all my co-workers and their families for their trust in CMC and in me to accompany us in our 30-year development journey” - said President Nguyen Trung Chinh.

 Fire proves gold, adversity proves men

For today’s success, Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh has had to go through many harsh challenges. Right from his first job, he encountered a great challenge, as the National Institute of Technology Research was caught in fire in 1989 and all documents, products and computers for research were burned down.

"Had it not been for that fire, Vietnam would have its first computer in 1989" - Mr. Chinh recalled.

The event was a huge shock, but thanks to that, Mr. Chinh realized that digital transformation is required to preserved documents and knowledge. The name of 

CMC, standing for Chinh - Minh - Cong su (Chinh & Minh are names of the two founders, Cong su means coworkers), can also be understood as "Chay Ma Co" (established thanks to the fire) due to that event in 1989" - said Mr. Chinh.

Building a strong, prosperous country with digital aspiration

Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh always dreams of seeing Vietnamese people standing tall and proud with the word "Vietnam" in the international arena. When researching digital transformation for document storage, he realized its superiority and was sure that digital transformation would become an inevitable trend of the world. He believes that having an appropriate digital transformation strategy is the shortest way for Vietnam to rise and stand on equal footing with powerful countries of the five continents, just like what President Ho Chi Minh wished for.

That dream has become the core value of CMC's activities, and is not only the vision of becoming a global, world-class digital corporation, but also the mission to inspire domestic individuals and enterprises to build the country together.

"With a population of nearly 100 million people, if each and every Vietnamese has great aspirations to contribute to national construction, the goal of making Vietnam a strong and prosperous country will not be out of reach." - Mr. Chinh affirmed.

Right at the ceremony, the entrepreneurs also joined together to build 212 solidarity houses with worth of 10.6 billion VND for poor households. In which, 16 will be immediately transferred to households in Ky Son District, Nghe An to promptly help them overcome the consequences of the recent storm and flood.

"Outstanding Vietnamese Entrepreneur" is a noble national title. The award ceremony is an activity to honor entrepreneurs, which is organized by VCCI as assigned by the Politburo in Resolution 09/NQ-TW dated 9 December 2011 and under the direction of the Prime Minister. This year, the program has been comprehensively renovated in terms of content, methods and review criteria, with the aim of building a community of Vietnamese entrepreneurs who are good at doing business and have exemplary business ethics and culture as well as national spirit and a sense of sustainable development.
