CMC participates in International Investment Promotion Conference of Quang Ninh province

At the International Investment Promotion Conference for information and technology industry, recently held in Ha Long - Quang Ninh, Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh - Chairman/CEO of CMC Corporation shared his view on the capacity of technology transformation in Vietnam.

On 8 November in Ha Long, Ministry of Information and Communications, in cooperation with the People's Committee of Quang Ninh Province, held the Vietnam International Investment Promotion Conference 2019 for information and technology industry with the theme of "Development of Technology Enterprises - Global Cooperation".  The conference was attended by nearly 100 large ICT enterprises, both domestic and international, as well as representatives of associations and enterprises of provinces and cities in the Northern region.

At the conference, Deputy Minister Phan Tam highly appreciated the contributions of FDI enterprises to the field of ICT. Accordingly, the world's leading corporations such as Intel, Samsung, HP, Panasonic, etc. have all set up large-scale manufacturing factories, while other big companies such as Qualcomm, Grab, Fujitsu, SAP, etc. are also promoting activities in Vietnam. In the near future, a series of new investment projects will be deployed, including Google's project of bringing production line of virtual reality glasses to Vietnam, or most recently, Facebook’s project.

Delegates also discussed about the policy of attracting new generation of foreign investment in the context of Industry 4.0 in Vietnam, such as focusing on developing priority industries with high readiness, developing essential infrastructure, promoting the development of technology enterprises in Vietnam, developing appropriate managing mechanism for digital business environment, building and developing national innovation centers, perfecting models, mechanisms and policies for breakthrough development of high-tech industrial parks.

Mr. Bui Van Thang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh Province, also introduced the province's policy and environment for attracting investments. Particularly, for the ICT field, Quang Ninh already had in store the policy of investing in the construction of a software industrial park to attract technology corporations to invest in and establish facilities for software research and development.

At the Conference, Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh (Chairman/CEO of CMC Corporation) participated in discussions about strengthening joint ventures and associates for the development of technology enterprises in Vietnam. “The fact that Samsung SDS selected CMC for strategic cooperation in researching and developing technology applications around the world has proved that Vietnamese enterprises fully meet conditions of technology transformation, infrastructure as well as knowledge to attract investments from large international enterprises", said Mr. Chinh.

The strategy of "Make in Vietnam" - which focuses on technology products created and developed by Vietnamese people, is the subject of interest of many businesses. Mr. Chinh said:“CMC is a company that contributes to“ Make in Vietnam ”by self-researching core technologies such as FPGA, and having close relationship with international organizations. I suggest that we should strive to make Vietnam a reliable partner when cooperating with leading technology countries such as the US, Japan and South Korea. The elevation of our national position will help foreign enterprises to avoid the barrier of violating regulations and restrictions of their own countries when investing in Vietnam”.

Mr. Chinh also pointed out some inadequacies when implementing policies for research and development and human resources, which lead to inequality between domestic enterprises when competing each other in the domestic market. If these problems are dealt with, it is sure that Vietnamese enterprises will be able to promote all of their internal strength to produce more "Make in Vietnam" products. Finally, he proposed for Ministry of Information and Technology to be the bridge in the Digital transformation campaign and lead local departments and branches to effectively implement the Digital transformation plan of each year in order to bring about higher efficiency.

In addition to the seminars, CMC Corporation also had an exhibition booth with the theme of "Aspire to Inspire the Digital Transformation". Products and services introduced by CMC such as  C.OPE2N ecosystem, CMDD (malware solution), SOC (network security solution), etc. attracted the attention from many participants. With a strong technology infrastructure, as well as partnerships with more than 40 technology firms in the world and the capacity of a team of experienced professionals, CMC Corporation aims to become a global corporation, a leader in providing digital transformation services and digital services for the region and the world with revenue of 1 billion USD in 2023.
