Hanoi People's Committee and 5 IT corporations sign memorandum of understanding on investment cooperation in telecommunication

On 5 June, 2020, Hanoi People's Committee and CMC Corporation, Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group, Viettel Military Industry - Telecoms Group, Mobifone Telecommunications Corporation and FPT Corporation signed the memorandum of understanding to promote the coordination and cooperation of telecommunication investment in the city during the 2020-2025 period.

According to the memorandum, CMC Corporation along with other IT corporations will continue to synchronously bring telecommunications cable system and medium and low voltage power lines at streets underground, in line with the socioeconomic planning of the capital in the 2020-2015 period. In particular, priority is given to the common use and sharing of telecommunications infrastructure, combining with going underground, embellishing and building a modern and civilized capital.

Hanoi People's Committee will create favorable conditions to support related administrative procedures for corporations involved in the process of investment and construction of technical infrastructure, as well as implement preferential policies and provides supports for projects of investment and construction of shared technical infrastructure according to provisions of the law.

Investment cooperation in the field of telecommunication is included in the roadmap to construct telecommunications infrastructure, digitize database, develop e-Government and build Hanoi into a Smart City. On 27 June, the conference of "Hanoi 2020 - Investment and Development Cooperation" also took place with the participation of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh, leaders and former leaders of the Party, the State, central committees, ministries and sectors, cities and provinces; ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic agencies and international organizations; experts, scientists and over 1300 domestic and foreign investors and enterprises.
